1. Kitty’s Gorge Walk Trail

Difficulty: Moderate
Start Point: Serpentine Falls or Jarrahdale Heritage Mill
This is Serpentine’s crown jewel. The trail winds through beautiful jarrah forests, crosses bubbling creeks, and offers serene views of granite outcrops and mini waterfalls. It’s especially alive during winter when everything is lush and the water flows strongly.
Nearby Coffee: Jarrahdale General Store – rustic charm, hearty food, great coffee. The perfect reward at the end of the trail.

2. Baldwin’s Bluff Nature Trail
Distance: 6.5km return
Difficulty: Moderate to Hard
Start Point: Serpentine Falls carpark
If you’re chasing a view, this trail delivers. It’s a bit of a climb, but you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views over the Serpentine valley and surrounding bushland. Cooler winter temperatures make the uphill challenge more enjoyable.
Nearby Coffee: Head into Byford for a caffeine hit at one of the many local cafes.

3. Stacey’s Loop
Distance: 2.5km loop
Difficulty: Easy
Start Point: Jarrahdale Cemetery
Short and peaceful, this easy loop takes you through native bush and is perfect for beginners or families. It’s dog-friendly on a lead and features interpretive signs and seasonal wildflowers, ideal for a Sunday morning reset.
Nearby Coffee: Millbrook Winery – a top-tier lunch and wine spot with excellent coffee. Bookings are recommended on weekends.

4. Falls Walk Trail
Distance: 400m return
Difficulty: Easy
Start Point: Serpentine Falls picnic area
For a quick hit of natural beauty, this short walk takes you to the base of Serpentine Falls. The sound of the water rushing during winter is energising, and you’ll likely spot friendly kangaroos nearby.
Nearby Coffee: Bring a thermos and enjoy it at the picnic area – a simple way to soak in the scenery.

5. 10th Light Horse Trail
Distance: Up to 12km (choose your loop)
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Start Point: Jarrahdale Oval
Named after the famed Light Horse regiment, this network of flat trails is ideal for walkers, families, and mountain bikers. The open bushland and winter rains bring the landscape to life with native wildlife and birdsong.
Nearby Coffee: Jarrahdale General Store again – yes, it’s that good. Great stop after any of the Jarrahdale walks.

Winter and Spring is the best time to walk in Jarrahdale and Serpentine. The waterfalls are roaring, the trails are cooler, and the bush is teeming with wildlife. Plus, there’s something special about starting and/or finishing a walk with a hot coffee in hand.
