Milo Balls, The Aussie Classic!
There’s something so nostalgic about Milo Balls, they take me straight back to childhood afternoons, when Mum would whip up a batch before we even had time to ask what was for afternoon tea. These little chocolatey, malty bites are a true Aussie classic that is sweet, simple, and oh-so-satisfying.
Made with just a handful of pantry staples such as crushed Milk Arrowroot biscuits, condensed milk, coconut, and a big scoop of Milo. They’re the kind of no-bake treat that comes together in minutes and disappears just as quickly. I always use Arnott’s Milk Arrowroot biscuits for that perfect balance of crunch and sweetness, and full-fat sweetened condensed milk because it helps the mixture set beautifully. Of course, if you can’t find Milo where you are, Ovaltine or Aldi brand malt powder works just as well!
Ingredients
- 250g plain sweet biscuits (such as Arnott’s Milk Arrowroot or Aldi brand also works well)
- 395g can sweetened condensed milk (full-fat recommended)
- 1 cup desiccated coconut (plus extra for rolling)
- ½ cup Milo (or other malted milk powder)
Instructions
- Crush the biscuits into fine crumbs using a food processor (or place them in a bag and crush with a rolling pin).
- In a large bowl, combine the biscuit crumbs, condensed milk, desiccated coconut, and Milo. Mix until well combined.
- Roll tablespoon-sized portions of the mixture into balls.
- Roll each ball in extra desiccated coconut to coat.
- Place in the fridge for at least 1 hour to firm up.
Tips
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week (if they last that long!).
- For extra indulgence, swap a little Milo with cocoa powder for a richer chocolate flavour.
- Freeze-friendly! Keep in a sealed container for up to 2 months
Once rolled in coconut and chilled, these Milo Balls are soft, fudgy, and completely irresistible. They’re a favourite for school lunchboxes, family get togethers, bake sales, or just a little treat to keep in the fridge for when the sweet cravings hit.
Simple, nostalgic, and perfectly Aussie! You can’t go wrong with a batch of Milo Balls.
