Old Fashioned Oat Biscuits with a Golden Twist
Crispies, the deliciously crisp and golden biscuits, are an old fashioned favourite perfect with a cup of tea or coffee. They have a lovely chewy texture from the oats and a subtle flavour from the golden syrup.
This classic oat based biscuit recipe combines simple pantry staples into a comforting, energy packed treat. With rolled oats providing a good source of dietary fibre for sustained energy and butter contributing richness and flavour, these biscuits strike a balance between indulgence and nourishment. The golden syrup and sugar add sweetness and help achieve a crisp texture, while self-raising flour ensures a light, slightly chewy crumb. Though best enjoyed as an occasional treat due to their higher butter and sugar content, these biscuits offer a wholesome, homemade alternative to store bought cookies perfect for lunchboxes, tea breaks, or a quick pick me up.
